Will you get an A or an F?

I got questions,

but do you have the answers

With your modern Bibles?

by Mike Hernandez

As part of our series in exposing the differences with the modern versions of the Bibles, we have put together a short quiz to help show you a small sampling of what we have found. There are literally thousands of changes in these modern versions, and in some cases entire verses have been removed.

However, some modern Bibles do have extensive footnotes, while others have none, and, if you are unfortunate and own a copy without footnotes or cross references in them, then you will have no way of knowing what has been removed, or in some cases added.

This also applies to computer bible software and online reading.

In addition, some of these changes are downright dangerous, and as the bible clearly states:

Revelation 22:18-19 KJV (18) For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: (19) And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Before you begin, please grab a hard copy of your bible in order to see if you can answer the followings questions from the listed verses alone.

For this exercise please use any modern Bible such as; NASB, NIV, ESV, TNIV, RSV. Click here to read the entire article…

Satans Little Helper!

You decide Part 1

NIV, of God or of the Devil?

This is a long Article, But worth it!

Verse Comparison in second half of article!

As of late, our team here at the Chronicle Watch has been researching the different Bible versions that exists on the market today.  We have been buying and comparing multiple copies of different versions verses by verse.   As we find the differences, we take note then dive down into the Greek and Hebrew meaning of the words in order to understand the differences of translation.

In addition to the changes that we find, we have also been encountering section of verses stripped completely out of certain Bibles ( more on this later ).

One issue we will be sharing with you shortly is about  is a Professor named Virginia Ramey Mollenkott who has advocated for LGBT rights and Christian feminism.   In addition, she has also contributed major studies on the feminine imagery for God in the Bible, and is in support of gender inclusive language for the scriptures.

With that being said, Virginia Ramey Mollenkott also served as a stylistic consultant for the New International Version of the Bible and is an active member of the Evangelical and Ecumenical Women’s Caucus and Christian Lesbians OUT.

What we would like to share with you now is some interesting information we came across by an author by the name of Carl Graham.

Before you start, make sure you have a copy of your Bible in hand in order to cross reference everything you come across in any of the articles we post in regards to the scriptures. Click here to read the entire article…

With all the variations modern Bible translations in society today, we here at The Chronicle Watch are curious as to which version of the Bible each of you read and why?

This question stems from a new project we here at The Chronicle Watch have started to undertake in order to get a deeper understanding of God’s word (hence the lack of posting from the guys at TCW) and some of our findings have been astonishing to say the least, especially with the different translations of the modern day Bibles. I Love the World, Yet I’m a Christian

No, that makes you a liar.

by Mr. H

Over these last few weeks I have been hearing from far too many so-called Christians that it is acceptable to use modern day speech; speech that is laden with the world, speech that is vulgar and crude, speech one would not use in front of their grandmother, yet, speech they have no issues using in front of their co-workers, friends or strangers even though they proclaim to be followers of Jesus Christ.

They are going down to hell by the thousands

Young men and old men, and sisters of all ages, if you love the Lord, get a passion for souls, Do you not see them? They are going down to hell by the thousands.

- Charles Spurgeon

When I came across the above quote it reminded me of the state of the church today in America and how too many Christians have forgotten that the way is narrow and few will find it, yet broad is the way that leads to destruction – which is how too many of us so called Christians act and live as we walk broadly right into destruction every single day.

Matthew 7:13-14 NIV “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. (14) But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

When we understand that the road is narrow, we must then realize that if we are truly followers of Christ we must then strive with each step we take to stay the narrow path. Yes, we will slip, but the question is, do we repent when we slip and do we pick back up the cross again, or do we follow the ways of the world and only profess Christ when it suits our needs?

Christianity Without Prayer is Dead

July 24, 2009 by Mike Hernandez

To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing. – Martin Luther [1]

How many of us pray on a daily basis? How many of us have a personal relationship with God our Father in heaven asking Him to guide us with every step we take, with every word we speak?

Without pray He cannot guide us as we are not going to Him to let our request be known.

Philippians 4:6-7 NASB Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (7) And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

We must seek the Lord Jesus earnestly at all times – continually. Without devoting our lives to Christ, then what are we really doing?

Acts 6:4 NASB “But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”

Every day we should pray, and teach the gospel to everyone.

There is only one true God, the God of Israel and the only way to salvation is through His one and only Son Jesus.

John 14:6 NASB Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Let’s get out there and teach the word of God, and pray that He will give us the strength and wisdom to do it!

Do you profess Christ?

July 11, 2009 by Mike Hernandez

If we profess Christ and we choose to stand for Christ, then we must strive to be righteous before God at all times, at all cost.

Why? Because God commands it from us.

1 Peter 1:14-16 NASB As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, (15) but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; (16) because it is written, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”

My friends, I will tell you that it will be an extremely difficult path to walk, and narrow will be the way, and I can assure you, you will not be able to do it on your own accord, but only with GOD and His strength will you even begin to achieve to walk for His glory and stop walking for your own.

If you want to follow God then you must put Him before yourself at all COST! You must die to the world and love what is good, not what is of the world.

James 4:4 NASB You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

A day will come when you will be put to the greatest test of your life, and yes my friends I am scared, but I know that only with GOD will we be able to live or die for His glory.

I realize now that when I pray, I must ask Him at all times for His will to be done and not my own, and if that means I must die for Him, and He must crush me for His name to be glorified, then so be it.

No, I do not want to die, but my life is in Gods hand, and His will is all that I must strive to do.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NASB (19) Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? (20) For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

And that price was the blood of Jesus Christ, the One and only Son of God!

So “Honor Him”, and no longer honor yourselves, for God must be first and foremost in your life, if you choose to follow Him and want to be a child of the living God.

Yes, by faith and faith alone we are saved!

Romans 10:8-13 NASB But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”–that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, (9) that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; (10) for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. (11) For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.” (12) For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; (13) for “WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”

And if we repent and choose this gift of salvation, then you will become a new creature in Christ Jesus, and you will not want to shame God by the ways of which you used to live. You will want to honor God with every thought and deed.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 NASB (17) Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. (18) Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, (19) namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (20) Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. (21) He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

My friends follow Jesus, not men. Judge yourself against the bible, not others. One day you will you stand before God Almighty, a righteous King, a holy King that will NOT judge you according to men, but rather according to His word, the Word of God!

I beg you, please go and read your bibles, and learn and study the gospel of Jesus Christ our precious Lord and Saviour, and know how we are to live a life in Christ Jesus and not a life of this world.

Do you love me?

Many Christian today proclaim that they love God with all their hearts, but the question I ask is, “do you really love God with all your heart”?

If you do, are you willing to follow Him as He asks you to do?

Introduction

In John 21, we see Jesus asking Peter a question three times, and each time Peter is asked a question, God ask Peter do something to show His love for Christ.

First Time

John 21:15 NASB So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus *said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” He *said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He *said to him, “Tend My lambs.”
Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him, and Peter replied, “Yes”. After Peter gave Jesus his confirmation, Jesus then told him to tend His lambs. Let’s look at what the word, “Tend” means.

“TendG1006 My lambs.”

G1006
βόσκω
boskō; from the root βοτ- bot-; to feed: – feed (1), feeding (3), herdsmen (3), tend (2).

The first step in loving Jesus is the willingness to teach the young in Christ the Word of God. To look after them, to keep them on track and focused in the Word, to help strengthen them so they can learn to put on the full armor of God.

Ephesians 6:11 NASB Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

Second Time

John 21:16 NASB He *said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” He *said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He *said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.”
Jesus asked Peter a second time if he loved Him, and Peter replied again, Yes. Jesus then proceeded and asked Peter to Shepherd His sheep.

The first time Peter was asked to tend, which means feed – to build up in Christ. Now the second time he is asked to Shepherd the sheep, not just the lambs, but both young and old.

Let’s look a little close at the word, “Shepherd”.

“ShepherdG4165 My sheep.”

G4165
ποιμαίνω
poimainō; from G4166; to act as a shepherd: – caring (1), rule (3), shepherd (5), tending sheep (1), tends (1).

Not only does shepherding include tending, but it also goes into leading and presiding over the congregation.

If you love God twice as much, then we are to not only teach, but lead both the young and the mature in Christ.

Third Time

John 21:17 NASB He *said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus *said to him, “Tend My sheep.
The third step is to fully raise up the Church body to be ministers for God.

We are to tend His sheep:

  • Lead the elders.
  • Teach the elders.
  • Create Leaders, disciples for Christ.

Final Thoughts

This is why it is so important that we spend our time studying Gods Word daily, so when the time comes, we will be ready to lead and teach others; to help them put on the full armor of God, so they in return can continue to spread the Gospel of Jesus!

If we truly to love the Lord, then we know what we must do. I already made my decision, how about you?

Ephesians 6:13-17 NASB Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. (14) Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, (15) and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; (16) in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (17) And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Help Even Your Enemies

Reading through the Gospels, I came across this passage in Luke that made me think deeply within myself as to what being loving and kind truly is.

Left for Dead

Here we have a man that has been mugged, beat up, and left for dead in the middle of the road.

Luke 10:30-42 NASB Jesus replied and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead. (31) “And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. (32) “Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

A priest and a Levite passed by, and just ignored him.

Think about this for a minute. As Christians, we are suppose to be walking in the ways of Christ’s teaching, and when we see someone in trouble what do we do?

  • Do we just ignore them leaving them for dead?
  • Do we just pass them by and ignore their cries for help?

If we do, then how are we any better than those who hurt them?

How are we any better than the world around us that treats everyone with nothing but contempt?

How is that living for Jesus?

A Samaritan

What is interesting is that a Samaritan of all people helped this man.

If you ever studied a little history, the Jews hated Samaritans , yet this one Samaritan, regardless of his feeling about his known enemy, had compassion and helped this man.

Luke 10:33-35 NASB “But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, (34) and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. (35) “On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.’

Now only did he clean the man’s wounds, he also took him to an Inn, and paid for everything, asking nothing in return.

What a testimony this is.

How many of us could see a mortal enemy in the streets, stop to help him, asking for nothing in return, knowing full well that in their heats they despised us and wanted us dead?

Well, as Christians, this is exactly what we need to do. We need to help everyone regardless of our own opinions or feelings. We are not helping others on our own behalf, but rather for the glory of God. If we truly do love the Lord, then we need to remove all contention from our hearts, and look to everyone with the same kindness and compassion that Jesus extended to us.

This is why we need to continually pray day and night so that God can help us keep our hearts of flesh, removing all stone at all times.

And maybe, the next time we help someone in need, by the sign of compassion we extend towards them, they might see the love of Jesus and want to know Him as we do.

Maybe by that single act of kindness it will be enough so soften their hearts, and let them know that there is more in this broken world than the hate that engulfs each one of us, each and every day.

1 Thessalonians 5:15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.

May we always have the strength not to repay the wrongs done us, but instead seek good for all those around us.

How Much Faith Do You Have?

What would you do if the leader of your country told you that you could no longer worship or follow your Lord and Savior Christ Jesus?

What would you do if they said that if you do worship your God and pray to Him, you will be put to death?

Those were the questions that came to mind as I read Daniel 3.

Upon thinking about those questions, I asked myself, how many of us Christians have the faith and the strength to stand for righteous even in the face of death.

Are you willing to die for your belief? Do you have the faith to stand for God regardless of the outcome?

Do we as Christians have the faith as Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego?

Here we have three men that loved God more than their own lives, and were willing to die for Him in order to obey His commandments.

Daniel 3, let’s begin

Daniel 3:10-11

As we begin to look at these verses in Daniel 3, we see the story unfold. A decree has been made throughout the land where everyone had to bow down and worship the golden idols which the king had made. If you refused to worship these idols, you would surely be put to death.

Daniel 3:10-11 ESV You, O king, have made a decree, that every man who hears the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image. (11) And whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into a burning fiery furnace.

Daniel 3:12-18

Yet, because these three men knew Gods laws, and feared Him more than man, they refused to bow down and worship any idol, even though it was a law made instituted by the king himself; an unjust evil law, that these men of God simply could not follow.

Daniel 3:12-18 ESV There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, pay no attention to you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” (13) Then Nebuchadnezzar in furious rage commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought. So they brought these men before the king. (14) Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, “Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up? (15) Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?” (16) Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. (17) If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. (18) But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”

Daniel 3:19-30

Due to their refusal to obey the king, the king heated the furnace in the fire seven times hotter than normal. The fire was so fierce that even the men that took these three down to be thrown into the furnace died from the extreme heat.

Daniel 3:19-23 ESV Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated. (20) And he ordered some of the mighty men of his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. (21) Then these men were bound in their cloaks, their tunics, their hats, and their other garments, and they were thrown into the burning fiery furnace. (22) Because the king’s order was urgent and the furnace overheated, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. (23) And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell bound into the burning fiery furnace.

Daniel 3:24-27

Yet, due to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego devotion to God, their lives were spared in the burning fire. Not a burn or singe anywhere to be found on any of them.

Daniel 3:24-30 ESV Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished and rose up in haste. He declared to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” (25) He answered and said, “But I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.” (26) Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the burning fiery furnace; he declared, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the fire. (27) And the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together and saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them.

Daniel 3:28-30

And because of their act of faithfulness, they not only kept themselves true to God, but also served as a witness for their God, and the king himself was touched by what he just witnessed and now knew the truth of God through the faithful actions of these three men that faced death in the face.

Daniel 3:28-30 ESV Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and delivered his servants, who trusted in him, and set aside the king’s command, and yielded up their bodies rather than serve and worship any god except their own God. (29) Therefore I make a decree: Any people, nation, or language that speaks anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be torn limb from limb, and their houses laid in ruins, for there is no other god who is able to rescue in this way.” (30) Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

If you look at these last few verse, what is truly amazing is that not only were they saved, not only did they glorify God, but they were also promoted over the land of which the king ruled.

In addition, a new decree was made – that no one would ever speak against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. If they did they would be killed.

In Closing

I only hope and pray that by the testimony left behind about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego we can learn to have the faith that these men had, and always choose Jesus no matter what the outcome. We will not always know what God has in store for us, but I have learned that with every test we face our faith grows if we put it in God’s hands and truly trust upon Him.

Lastly I have a few final questions to ask each one:

  • Do we as Christians in this broken world have the faith and strength to stand up for what is right regardless of the consequences that we may face?
  • If a time came where you had to accept death or reject Jesus what would your answer be?

If we answer no to either of these questions, we need to start getting our hearts back to flesh and completely removing the stone.

Where is your faith today?
