CAIR FLARE OVER CHRISTIAN EVANGELIST

UPROAR OVER CNN INTERVIEW

FRANKLIN GRAHAM CONDEMNS ISLAM (AGAIN)

by Paul L. Williams

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is irate about remarks Reverend Franklin Graham made to Campbell Brown on CNN this week.

Reverend Graham, when asked if he shares President Obama’s high esteem of Islam, said: “We have many Muslims that live in this country. But true Islam cannot be practiced in this country. You can’t beat your wife. You cannot murder your children if you think they’ve committed adultery or something like that, which they do practice in these other countries.

Ms. Brown attempted to mollify Rev. Graham’s remarks by pointing out that President Obama described Islam as “a great Islam,” but the prominent Protestant evangelists refused to back down from his position. I don’t agree with the teachings of Islam and I find it to be a very violent religion,” he said.

At one point in the interview, Rev. Graham admonished Ms. Brown by saying: “Trust me, girl, you don’t want to live where sharia is the law of the land.”

Rev. Graham has served as a Christian missionary in Islamic lands for more than 50 years. In southern Sudan, he said, Muslims have murdered more than “two million people.”

In a new letter sent yesterday to Rev. Graham, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad called upon the prominent Protestant evangelist to attend sensitivity-training sessions so that he could become aware of “the wisdom and beautiful teaching” that Islam offers to the Judeo-Christian world.

Mr. Awad wrote: “I believe your views on Islam are unworthy of a respected religious leader and are based on misinformation and misconceptions that could be cleared up in a face-to-face meeting with representatives of the American Muslim community.”

In a previous interview, Mr. Graham said: “The god of Islam is not the same God of the Christian or the Judeo-Christian faith. It is a different god, and I believe Islam is a very evil and a very wicked religion.”

Following that incident, CAIR called for a meeting between Graham and national Muslim leaders to “come together as people of faith to promote inter-religious understanding and mutual respect.” Graham opted to ignore the CAIR’s letter.

Franklin Graham is the son of Billy Graham, an internationally-known Christian minister who is respected by Muslims worldwide.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its alleged mission is “to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.”

Why did CNN just pull the Campbell Brown interview last night with Franklin Graham about Islam?
Or the headline I like to call “The big nail in the coffin of the Obama Administration.”
Rev. Franklin Graham talking with CNN’s Campbell Brown last night, where he said he does not believe he would have been disinvited from speaking at the National Day of Prayer observance at the Pentagon if “Bill Clinton or George Bush” were President. Graham stopped short of saying he believes President Obama had anything to do with the decision, but said he believes there are those in Obama’s Administration who advocated for the decision.
On Islam, Graham stood by his past remarks when he was asked by Campbell Brown if Islam is an “evil religion.” Graham responded: “Well, Campbell, if you take just the way they treat women, I have a real problem with Islam – I do. The way they treat women – it is horrid. It is not a peaceful religion that President Bush and President Obama tried to tell the American people it is – it is not that at all.”
Franklin Graham later said “Islam is what it is” when Brown attempted to talk as if it is no different than Christianity or Judaism.

UPDATE: I just noticed that CNN is saying the video is “no longer available.” Don’t know if this is temporary of if they have pulled it for good. If they have pulled it, it only serves to illustrate the bias going on here that Graham was talking about. UPDATE 2: I found video of the interview at YouTube uploaded by MoxNews. It is actually a more extensive clip. I’m leaving the CNN clip that is “no longer available” as a reminder that it has disappeared or been pulled.

Graham is a courageous man who is stating the obvious to millions of Americans – that Islam is not a peaceful religion. But his words fall like a hammer to those on the politically-correct Left who don’t even believe there is such a thing as right and wrong, good and evil. To them, all things are shades of gray, especially when it comes to religion. But all you have to do is look at what Islam produces in a society where it is the dominant religion. Where on earth is there a place that Islam is dominant where you also find respect for human rights, freedom of religion, and an absence of terrorist jihadist activity?
