They are going down to hell by the thousands

Young men and old men, and sisters of all ages, if you love the Lord, get a passion for souls, Do you not see them? They are going down to hell by the thousands.
- Charles Spurgeon
When I came across the above quote it reminded me of the state of the church today in America and how too many Christians have forgotten that the way is narrow and few will find it, yet broad is the way that leads to destruction – which is how too many of us so called Christians act and live as we walk broadly right into destruction every single day.
Matthew 7:13-14 NIV “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. (14) But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
When we understand that the road is narrow, we must then realize that if we are truly followers of Christ we must then strive with each step we take to stay the narrow path. Yes, we will slip, but the question is, do we repent when we slip and do we pick back up the cross again, or do we follow the ways of the world and only profess Christ when it suits our needs?
If we follow the world yet proclaim that we are Christians, then my friends, that is a recipe that will lead us directly into the bounds of an everlasting hell; a hell that will show no mercy to those of us who will attend all because while on this earth we choose to follow the world and refused to follow in the steps of Christ.
1 Peter 2:21 NIV To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
Too many so called Christians will comment that what I am saying is too intense, too harsh, it does not tickle the ears or make them feel good.
If you feel this way you need to remember this one very important fact; when we stand before God Almighty on the Day of Judgment, and if we did not live life as He commanded and taught us through His holy Word, He will say for us to depart from Him for He never knew us and we will be destroyed.
Matthew 7:21-23 NIV “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ (23) Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
If you do not want to hear the truth, I am sorry, but as a Christian sharing the gospel with other who profess the faith I must share it no matter how intense one might think it is. Again, I need to remind you that even though many professed to be followers of Christ, the Lord said, “depart from me for I never knew you”.
When you think about this, we need to realize that the Christian walk must be taken serious at all times, and that each one of us who profess to be a Christian must rise to the level that Christ expects from each one of us, and follow Him as He calls us to do, or if we refuse we will be destroyed.
Hebrews 10:26-29 NIV If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, (27) but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. (28) Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. (29) How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
Lukewarm Christians my friends have no place in the sight of God.
Revelation 3:15-16 NIV I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! (16) So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
He expects, demands from each one of us to follow in His ways, and to be righteous before Him in all that we do.
2 Peter 3:10-14 NIV But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. (11) Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives (12) as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. (13) But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. (14) So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
And as you can clearly see, you cannot walk on the wide broad road, for if you do, you will go to hell. If you are a Christian, then every day you need to pick up the cross and follow Jesus. You must repent, believe and follow at all times, throughout every day, for the rest of your natural life.
Again, we will all make mistakes, we are human and are sinful by nature, but the question is, “do we strive to be righteous before God and repent when we slip, or do we slip without a care in the world, yet still profess to be a Christian?”
That is a question that each one of us has to answer for ourselves.

Great article, Mike. You have accurately portrayed the world view of many of today’s “Christians”. All around us we see Christians who are making a mockery of God and his son, Jesus Christ. The culture of death, the culture of sin, the culture of selfishness is alive and well in America; and too many Christians either sit back and watch, or even worse, participate in it.
The next time you pop a movie in your DVD player, ask yourself if what you’re watching glorifies God. Ask yourself if you would be watching that movie if Jesus Christ himself were sitting down next to you. If the answer is “no”, click the eject button.
The next time you’re driving down the highway and flip off or curse the rude driver who cut you off, ask yourself if you would behave that way if Jesus Christ were in the passenger seat next to you.
The next time you’re hanging out with you buddies cursing and getting drunk, ask yourself if you would conduct yourself that way if Jesus Christ were at the party (yes, Jesus Christ attended parties, remember the wedding at Cana).
Hopefully you see my point and you’ll remember it. Conduct yourself like Jesus Christ is right there next to you at all times, and it WILL CHANGE THE WAY YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE.
Your comment box has improved, thank you.
You keep me on my toes as a good brother should and I take your [the Bible's] words to heart and continue to improve myself for Christ’s sake. I would like to help spread / share your blog with other people I know.
Good work!

Jesus is Lord
Hello Tom, Thank you so much for your feedback. We would greatly appreciate any help we can get in sharing the blog with others!
God bless you and thank you again!
I believe the ancient Hebrews knew and used God’s divine NAME- YAHWEH, to distinguish between Him and all other false gods. See Psalms 83:18, etc. Deut. says that ‘there MUST BE NO OTHER gods BEFORE ME’, saith the Lord. We pray to God the Father THROUGH the Son, Jesus Christ. Tell me it ain’t so…..

I am thinking maybe it is time to start doing the same today with all these false gods out there…

We as a society have evolved to the point that we can support many G-ds… All is good,,,better than ever,,
(Don’t bother packing a sweater…..y’all won’t be needing one)
Outstanding message. I believe that this society has lost it’s sense of where Jesus Christ saves the Believer from & where the Lord saves the Believer to.
