When I read the following articles, I think to myself, “England what have you done?”

U.K. Deports Christians Under New Immigration Rules

March 12, 2009 — A prominent Christian musician and a team of college-age missionaries were recently deported from the United Kingdom under new immigration rules that require religious workers to be sponsored by a licensed organization and obtain visas to enter the country.

In early March, Colorado-based singer Don Francisco was denied entrance into London and a Master’s Commission team from Arkansas was deported from Scotland because immigration officials said they needed work visas under new regulations introduced in November. ^[1]

US volunteers sent home by ‘Godless Scots’

A team of American church volunteers deported from Scotland by immigration officials who told them they needed work visas to give food to the homeless have branded the decision as “Godless”.

“It just floored me that I can stay for six months without a visa but if I want to volunteer to work in a soup kitchen for a couple of nights to help a church, I need to have a visa. That was what blew me away. I mean, we were hardly a threat to national security.” ^[2]

Government bans Geert Wilders from entering the UK

Geert Wilders, 45, a Dutch politician and the leader of Freedom Party, which holds nine of the 120 seats in the Dutch Parliament, had been refused entry to the United Kingdom to broadcast his film Fitna in the House of Lords. He was initially invited by a Member of Parliament to show the movie, which talks about the nature of Islam and accuses it of being a violent religion. The film features verses from the Koran

Mr Wilders was told by the British Embassy in a letter on Tuesday that he could not set foot in the country. ^[3]

Englands Roots

When you look to England’s past, you can clearly see that at one time, unlike today, they loved God and were entrenched deeply in the gospel.

Not only did they have a deep belief in Jesus, their rulers professed His name without shame, and gave glory to their Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

When the messenger of an African prince asked Queen Victoria the secret of England’s greatness and glory, Her Majesty, handing him a richly bound copy of the Bible, said, “Tell the prince that this is the secrect of England’s greatness. ” ^[5]

One of their great queens, Queen Victoria, recognized that only with God by her side, could England ever establish the greatness and glory that they have achieved. She knew that it was not by her greatness England received its power and glory, but rather by her nation glorifying God in all that they did.

That was the secret to their success – ruling a nation according to biblical Christian principles with a deep love for God – our Father in heaven above.

“The real secret of England’s greatness is her permeation, at the very dawn of her history, with the principles of order and liberty by means of the English Bible, and the capacity for freedom thereby created. This has permitted development, by equal stages, of our love for freedom and our submission to law; of our political constitution and our national genius; of our power and our self-control – the two sets of qualities fitting into one another, and growing into a well compacted fabric of political and moral power unexampled on earth. If nowhere else is seen a similar structure, so stable and so lofty, it is because nowhere else has a similar basis been found for it. It was Wycliffe who laid that basis.” ^[6]

Unfortunately for England this is no longer the case. They as a society, who was once deeply rooted in Christian values, now want little to do with Him. Instead, they want God out of their society, just like in America today.

And due to their actions, they are plummeting at an accelerated rate, with the risk of losing the very freedoms they cherished so dearly.

… it would be “simply impossible” to bring sharia law into British law “without fundamentally affecting its integrity”.

Sharia “would be in tension with the English legal tradition on questions like monogamy, provisions for divorce, the rights of women, custody of children, laws of inheritance and of evidence.

Writing in this newspaper, Lord Carey condemns multiculturalism as “disastrous”, blames it for creating Islamic ghettos and says that Dr Williams’s support for sharia law will “inevitably lead to further demands from the Muslim community”.

He suggests that such a move could embolden some Muslims to try to turn Britain into a country ruled by Islamic law which, he says, contradicts principles of human rights and allows the persecution of Christians. ^[9]

Final Thoughts

God will only let a nation blaspheme and deny Him for so long before He gives them over to their own depraved minds to the point of complete and utter ruin.

If we refuse God, refuse to obey Him, we will face His wrath, and be ruled by those who hate us.

I pray that England will once again open their eyes to seek God and repent so they can once again be a great and powerful nation.

I will also pray that America does likewise.

We need to repent as a society so that God can once again hear our prayers and bless these two nations – The United States and Great Britain.
