This passage I found to be interesting as it explains the law of when a man dies in a tent.
Numbers 19:14 NASB ‘This is the law when a man dies in a tent: everyone who comes into the tent and everyone who is in the tent shall be unclean for seven days.
The verses that stand out to me are the verses that discuss the days on which a person that touches a corpse will need purify themselves in order to be clean.
Numbers 19:11-13 NASB ‘The one who touches the corpse of any person shall be unclean for seven days. (12) ‘That one shall purify himself from uncleanness with the water on the third day and on the seventh day, and then he will be clean; but if he does not purify himself on the third day and on the seventh day, he will not be clean. (13) ‘Anyone who touches a corpse, the body of a man who has died, and does not purify himself, defiles the tabernacle of the LORD; and that person shall be cut off from Israel. Because the water for impurity was not sprinkled on him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is still on him.
Notice the days that are listed, they are third and seventh day where a person will need to purify themselves with water in order to be clean.
Ok, so what is interesting to you here??
What I find interesting is that when a person dies they will become dust of the ground and when God created man, he formed man from the dust of the ground.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust = Earth ( dry land / dust ).
Genesis 2:7 & 3:19
Man formed:
Genesis 2:7 NASB Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
Man dies:
Genesis 3:19 NASB By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.”
Now this leads me into creation, not the creation of man but of the earth ( dry land ) on the third day then seventh day of rest.
Genesis 1:9-13 NASB Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. (10) God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. (11) Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so. (12) The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good. (13) There was evening and there was morning, a third day.
On the third day, God created the dry land and the gathering of waters, seas. This is the day when dry land was known ( dust ) and seas ( water ).
I just find it interesting that the day God created the dry land ( third day ) is also a day which you must purify yourself with water ( third day gathering of waters were called seas ).
Then on the seventh day after you purify yourself with water you are clean.
The seventh day:
Genesis 2:3 NASB Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
I am not sure if there is any connection, but I just found it interesting with all the correlations in the verses listed.
Day 3
- Creation: Dry land was formed as well as the gathering of the waters called seas.
- Death: Purification of water for touching a corpse that in the end turns back to dust.
Day 7
- Creation: God rested and sanctified it.
- Death: When purification is complete on the seventh day you are clean.
Well until next time, thank you for stopping by and if you have any thoughts, please feel free to add a comment.
God bless…
